What is Master Data Management

Master data management (MDM) in Aerchain is a custom-built tool with one goal.


The goal is to mitigate product master data duplicates. Aerchain MDM uses a sophisticated matching mechanism. When a user searches for a product, Aerchain MDM matches the search keywords with the available products. It also provides a confidence score based on the keyword match with the existing products.


The user can do either:

  1. Choose from the existing product.
  2. Create a new product.


The new product creation involves approvers who further validate the request.


Approvers can either approve the new product creation or reject it suggesting existing product(s).


Follow the below steps to search for a product:

  1. Log in to the Aerchain customer portal.
  2. Click the Modules icon.
  3. Click Master Data Management.
  4. Click the Search button.
    ✔️The Request For Single Search form opens.
  5. Type in the product you search for in the Search Description text box.
  6. Click the Try Intelligent Search button.
  7. Fill in the value column on the Item Specification Table.
  8. Click the Submit button.
    ✔️The system displays the results along with the confidence score.
  9. OPTION 1: Copy the code of your choice and use it where it is required.
  10. OPTION 2: Click Not Satisfied With Result to reinitiate the search process.


NOTE: The Create New Item button will be dissabled automatically if the search results had an item with 100% confidence score.


How to Create a New Item

  1. Click the Create New Item button.
  2. Fill in the fields.
  3. Click Submit.
    ✔️ The Approvers page opens.
  4. Type and choose the approvers.
  5. Click the Submit button.


The item creation request is sent to the approvers for approval. Once approved, the new item will be created.


If you'd like to upload all the search keywords to the system, you can use the Bulk Search option. Aerchain provides you with a Bulk upload option to cover your requirements. Read on to learn how to use the bulk upload option.


  1. Log in to the Aerchain customer portal.
  2. Click the Modules icon.
  3. Click Master Data Management.
  4. Click the Bulk Upload button.
  5. The Request For File Upload window pops up.
  6. Click Download File.
    ✔️The Master-Data-Management spreadsheet file downloads.
  7. Open the file.
  8. Fill in the Sno (Serial number) and Product Details rows.
  9. Save the file.
  10. Click the Upload File button and upload the file.
    ✔️ A unique code is created for the upload task.
  11. Click the Code.
    ✔️ The bulk upload items view page opens.
  12. Click an item from the left pane.
  13. Follow the search process provided in the How to Search section of this article.
  14. Repeat the process for each item on the left pane.
